PHOTOGRAPHERS’ LOCATION NOTES

Austin motor cars, in particular the A40's were a very popular car for middle class Australians in the 40's and 50's being Australia's second most popular family car in 1951, holding 31% of the market for new car sales.

A great many were shipped to the USA in the late 40's and early 50's.
Comfortable, well built, reasonably priced and pretty reliable, although the steering was an overly complex design and front suspension a bit soft, but they still enjoyed great affection and popularity.

A paddock in rural Western Australia is home to this whimsical scene, a traffic jam frozen in time - all 1949 Austin A40 Devons.

Randomly dumped, the scene is set for a ghostly late 40's Rush Hour, jostling one another to see who will get home first.

Headlights poked out, engines and interiors stripped of useful parts and fittings, tyres rotting or missing, rusting panels - all driverless - the cars willing themselves on.
