PHOTOGRAPHERS’ LOCATION NOTES
The only ‘cold call’ that Ben and I have ever done), (we usually have referrals) was in March 2001 in South Western Australia
We drove past a property with abandonded farm implements out front which looked too good to pass up. The owner showed us around the property and his array of slowly decaying treasures. He said we could shoot whatever we liked and even offered us accommodation and a meal for the night if we needed more time.
After shooting the old blacksmith’s workshop and a stump jump plough, (with a large tree growing through it) we went to the farm scrap heap, (farm dumps are
usually on a cleared arid hilltop). Amongst a century’s collection of farm machinery lay a wonderful old truck, a 1922/23 Ruggles, manufactured in Saginaw, Michigan
and London, Ontario from 1920 to 1928, apparently one of only two in Australia (according to the owner).
