PHOTOGRAPHERS’ LOCATION NOTES
Whilst on vacation in France in 1998 after acquiring a borrowed camera to photograph “The Pisé Barn” Sarge was then referred to another farmer & asked to
photograph a Citroen traction Avante that was parked in a field. (As word got around the village Sarge was referred to 6 locations in all that proved worthwhile images).
This particular vehicle was the large nine seater Familiale, the car of choice for big families on Summer vacation. The apt setting of a cold & bleak winter field gave rise to the melancholic title of “Vacation’s End.”
Far from being a static image, the angle of the car heading into the sunshine, gives the impression that the car is still tackling the hills with gusto, with its heavily cobwebbed, ghostly passengers forever looking forward to the spiritual renewal of
a Summer break.
